Micheal's oil painting of Hurricane Point. The Point is a relatively high point on Highway 1 in the Big Sur region, and it is also very exposed to the north and south as well as to the west. When getting out of a car at one of Hurricane Point's three large highway turnouts, no one question the name "Hurricane Point": it seems always to be windy there.

Hurricane Point artwork is a vibrant landscape painting depicting a scene where land meets water. A large body of bright blue water occupies the lower half of the canvas, with visible brushstrokes creating a sense of movement that might suggest waves or current. On the banks of this water, there is a rugged terrain with varying shades of brown, tan, and green indicative of hills or mountains in the distance, as well as greener areas that suggest vegetation or possibly fields. The sky is not visible, placing the entire focus on the land and water interaction. The use of color and texture provides the viewer with a sense of the natural beauty and variety found in such landscapes. The angle and the perspective put the viewer above the scene, looking down on the water and the surrounding terrain.
