"El Sur Point" is a iconic part of Big Sur, California coastline along Highway 1 offers photographers and artists “the greatest meeting of land and water in the world”. El Sur is one of my paintings featuring a Big Sur scene of the rock El Sur Point were the Big Sur lighthouse is located. In this paint there is no Point Sur Lighthouse because the painting is depicting a time before man. Lightstation at Point Sur 24.6 miles (39.6 km) south of Monterey, California at the peak of the 361-foot (110 m) rock at the head of the point. It was established in 1889 and is part of Point Sur State Historic Park. The lighthouse is 40 feet (12 m) tall and 270 feet.
HWY 1 is the Big Sur coastal road running from Carmel in the north to San Simeon in the south, the Big Sur coastline is 90 miles of unsurpassed natural beauty. California Highway One hugs the land’s edge as it winds its way through the coast, Hurricane Point is a relatively high point on Highway 1 in the Big Sur region, and it is also very exposed to the north and south as well as to the west. Offering beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean on one side and the rugged coastal mountains.
"El Sur" is early rendering of Big Sur Scenic Road and available in various print editions plus other products.
